Most people in Watertown are familiar with Persona. Maybe they’ve known someone who worked here or have seen
our buildings from the street. After all, we’ve been around for nearly 40 years.
But it’s a good bet that many people don’t know all the facts about their hometown company. Watertown boasts several companies with strong national footprints, and Persona is certainly one of them.
Founded in 1980, Persona is one of the top five sign-making companies in the nation. Wherever you’ve traveled in the U.S., you have undoubtedly seen some of our work. Persona is one of just two companies selected to make signs for McDonald’s and its thousands of restaurants. And Persona is one of the top manufacturers of signage for the nation’s biggest hotel chains such as Marriott, Choice, Wyndham, Best Western and Hilton.
At Persona, we do about 7,000 projects every year for more than 150 top companies in every state and throughout North America.
That’s right, we’re a pretty big deal in the world of signs!
Since our beginning nearly 40 years ago, we have grown to include two facilities in Watertown plus operations in Madison, S.D.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; El Paso, Texas; and Mexico. About 400 people work for Persona, most of them right here in Watertown, making us among the city’s top employers.
We achieved all of this by being good at what we do, and by conducting business the right way. When Dennis Holien founded the company, he chose the name “Persona” to indicate the importance of people and their impact on a company – namely the employees and the customers.
