Guests arrive throughout the afternoon and evening (between 2pm and 6pm). Find your bunk and get settled. There is no hunting the first afternoon, but there’s a shooting range if you’d like a little warm-up before hitting the fields tomorrow.
Dinner: Ribeye Steak.
Breakfast and morning briefing: Breakfast is served at the main lodge. After a brief meeting to go over field basics, we’ll divide into three groups. Two groups will go to the fields right away; the third group will depart just a bit later.
Banded Bird Challenge: Persona is a proud sponsor of several charities. During the hunt, we will band a pheasant and release it into the field. Participants pay $20 at the registration table to join the contest and make their contributions. The hunter who gets the banded bird wins half of the kitty; the other half is given to a charity of Persona's choice (to be announced at the Hunt).
Lunch: After the morning’s hunt, be sure to take photos of the pheasants on the steps of the main lodge. We’ll have lunch in the main lodge, then head back to the fields for more hunting.
Annie Oakley: If you’re still itching for more shooting after the day’s hunts conclude, step up to try the Annie Oakley competition, weather permitting. The competition is an annual highlight.
Dinner: Prime rib. Each year we raffle some artwork from the Terry Redlin Art Center, headquartered in Watertown, SD. Proceeds from the $20 raffle tickets are used to tip the preserve staff. Purchase your ticket at the registration desk.
Rise and shine for another breakfast in the main lodge. If your travel arrangements allow, please join us for a morning hunt. Lunch will follow in the main lodge. There is no afternoon hunt.
In the evenings, enjoy some trap shooting, a bonfire, and an amazingly large outdoor tv!
